  • Supporting Young People with Work Experience placements;
  • Staff CPD and training;
  • Supporting site visits for graduate and post-graduate students of  natural resource management.

Health Walks & Events

Health Walks

Ranger led health walk leaves the Visitor Centre every Friday at 10am.

These steady paced walks last for about an hour and a half and take in the shorter waymarked walks.

During term time there is a free bus service that leaves the south side of Aboyne Bridge at 9:45 returning to Aboyne at the end of the walk.

Hands on Conservation Days

Our practical conservation days run in conjunction with the North East Scotland John Muir Trust Conservation Volunteers on the third Saturday of each month (except December) starting from 10am and aiming to finish by 4pm at the latest.

During 2025 the group carried out a huge amount of work removing redundant deer fencing, habitat management at the Fairy Lochan, tree planting along the Aboyne to Glen Tanar Link Path and waymarked trail maintenance.

Other Volunteer Opportunities

Outdoor Access Trust for Scotland.  Sessions will be running again this year, with dates to be provided soon.

Enquiries from Duke of Edinburgh pupils, students looking to supplement their learning and local residents with a bit of spare time are all welcome, as there is always something where an extra pair of hands are welcomed.

If you would like to come along to any or all of the sessions above please get in touch.
